April 27-28, 2010- CPI Hosts East African Awareness Week TUESDAY: Come and join Child Protection International (CPI) in watching a screening of War Child, a critically acclaimed film following the life of a former child soldier. Join in an informal discussion afterward, in which we can discuss the movie as well as the situation in the Sudan. War Child is a film focusing on our protagonist Emmanuel Jal, who was a former child soldier in Sudan. He goes back to his homeland, and uses hip hop as a catalyst for bringing peace to his war-ravaged country. THURSDAY: Come hear local musicians rock out for human rights in Sudan in support of CPI's campaign to end child abductions in Sudan. The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) held its national elections this bid for the chairmanship of the SPLM. Previous leader, Muammar Gaddafi, failed in his bid to stay on as president of the SPLM for another year.
